How to win Green New Deal policies

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Fredrick Douglass

Get ready for a marathon, not a sprint. To win and maintain just, wise, sustainable environmental, economic and social practices will take a long time, maybe forever.  It will take more powerful, diverse individual actions, organizations and movements.  Start here:

  1. Hold our elected representatives accountable: As an individual or representing your group, start with grassroots lobbying, Write letters, make phone calls to your U.S. Senators and/or Congress member to support or oppose bills and budget items. Meet with your Congressional staff. Attend Town Halls to ask questions. Write letters to the editors of your local paper.
  2. Organize for more power: Join this Coalition. Ask your friends, family, co-workers, group members to join you in grassroots lobbying, etc.  Ask your union, faith group, etc. support and speak up the Green New Deal policies and join the Coalition. If not, work with others to organize learning events and action through our Coalition.
  3. Grow our climate justice movement and connect with other groups & movements: Find or create opportunities to show solidarity with allies with common agendas with other strategies e.g. elections, direct action, etc. and constituencies e.g. youth, BIPOC, labor, faith, and any others you can think of that you belong to.
